George Clooney Is Heading ‘Watergate’ Series For Netflix With Matt Charman

Netflix has yet another project for a TV show lined up; this time focused on the infamous Watergate scandal that rocked the U.S. government in the 1970s.

Heading the project is none other than George Clooney, along with Matt Charman of Bridge of Spies fame.

It does not sound like this will be a long-running production though, as the program has been confirmed for eight episodes so far.

We also do not have many details about the project yet, although it is said that it will take a more realistic look at the colossal scandal that derailed the second Richard Nixon administration.

Clooney has been quite busy lately, and he seems focused on the small screen at the moment, with another miniseries in the works right now, an adaptation of Catch-22.

Some have pointed out that his involvement with Netflix is actually the more important story here though, as it speaks volumes about the company’s growth and their ability to attract talent nowadays.

It is true that Netflix has evolved a lot since their initial inception, and it has actually started to generate some humorous comments in the Internet community, thanks to its apparent inability to turn down a show project.

However, to Netflix’s credit, pretty much everything it has taken on so far has turned out successful, and they seem to have a knack for picking projects with a substantial potential in terms of artistry.

Whether Watergate will follow the same trend is impossible to tell, but as long as the entertainment giant puts enough effort into the project, it should have a good chance.

Clooney has a lot of passion for politics, and it is not a huge surprise that he would want to put his own stamp on a project like this one. Fans are excited to see what he will bring to the table.
