A recent flight with pregnant model Chrissy Teigen and her husband R&B artist John Legend on board gained a lot of attention on social media, as she sent out a series of tweets indicating that something strange was going on.
According to reports, the plane was following its regular, scheduled course for around four hours, at which point it made a complete turn back and went in the opposite direction.
The situation seemed to be related to a specific passenger, although it was not clear what the particular problem was, and why the whole plane would be diverted for one single person.
There was some worrying speculation, which is not surprising in today’s political climate.
However, the whole problem seemed to boil down to incorrect documentation and a possible mix-up at the LAX airport, reports indicate.
Someone had managed to board Teigen’s plane without proper documents and was apparently supposed to board another flight instead.
What is particularly odd about the incident is that the person was not even supposed to fly with the same air company, as he had a United ticked in his possession.
There is currently an investigation into how the incident was able to happen in the first place, and the airport will likely tighten its security measures in the near future in light of this embarrassing moment.
On the bright side, at least the person who managed to board the plane without the correct documents had no malicious intent, as the whole situation could have gone much worse under different circumstances, but thankfully nobody had managed to exploit this hole in the airport’s security on purpose.
The couple was able to make it to Japan earlier today after the “flight to nowhere.” One commenter said, “this was so wild, but I feel like we are all closer to u now.”
The story quickly gained national coverage.
