A simple “Like” from rapper T.I. has created some major backlash. A few days ago, T.I., who is married to Xscape singer Tameka “Tiny” Harris, spotted a post shared by a fan.
The note in question was a quote taken from well-known Islamic scholar Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan.
In short, according to Mr al-Fawzan, the role of the woman is defined as being a stay-at-home mother who takes care of her children and makes the husband happy.
The post read: “The woman is created to be a wife, be in the home, raise the children and please her husband.”
Many bashed the reality TV star for being backward and sexist. He was reminded that women are capable of being more than homemakers.
They have worked hard to have rights, to be world leaders, scientists, soldiers, moguls, doctors, and more.
One person asked T.I., how would he feel if someone made that statement about his three daughters?
Why should baby Heiress, Deyjah Harris, and Zonnique Pullins not follow their dreams, whatever they might be?
Some of his supporters said they were not surprised based on past remarks.
During the 2016 presidential election, T.I. said he could not in good conscience vote for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate, solely based on the fact that she is a woman.
The MC from Atlanta said in an interview: “Not to be sexist or anything like that, but I cannot vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman.”
He did apologize for the statement about Clinton after many of his fans called him out.
Tiny is having a major comeback with her Xscape band, but it was not easy to convince her husband that she was ready to be her own woman and have a career again.
Through their 17-year romance, the pair has had numerous fights because T.I. forbid his wife from having a job.
Despite his love for Tiny, the hip-hop music star seems to believe still that her role is in the kitchen.
