Oprah Winfrey has decided to use the platform given to her at the Golden Globes to speak up about the recent wave of sexual misconduct scandals.
She wanted to encourage everyone who could do something to help those affected by sexual assault to reach out and move things forward, and she wanted to believe in a world where nobody would ever have to use the words “me too” again.
Oprah also noted that she was the first black woman ever to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award, and said that she felt honored to be in this position.
Most people were not really focused on that though, as her speech about the recent scandals moved many to tears, and it created a very emotional moment in the audience.
The speech has received a lot of praise, with many supporting Oprah in her fight against sexual misconduct and admiring her for using her time in the limelight for something so positive.
Oprah, a sexual abuse survivor, has even received support for her rumored upcoming presidential campaign, something that started off as a bit of a joke but eventually evolved into a very serious topic that could grow even hotter in the coming months.
Whether Oprah ends up running for president or not remains to be seen, but either way, she is currently enjoying a lot of support and admiration from her fans and fellow entertainers, and she seems to have her mind in the right place.
According to those supporting her, hopefully, the world will hear more encouraging words from her in the near future, as the current nasty situation could definitely use a voice of reason like hers.
#Oprah2020 was a trending conversation for days on social media and her best friend, journalist Gayle King, said she seems “intrigued” by the idea of seeking the highest office in the land.
Early polls suggest that she could beat President Donald Trump if she chose to run.
