It has been half a decade since Ann Curry left the TODAY show, and only now does she feel confident enough to finally speak up about the situation, and how the absence of the morning program has changed her life.
According to Curry, the reason she made the difficult decision was that she felt no real chemistry with her former co-host, Matt Lauer.
She stated that it was a tough choice to make, and in the end, it hurt her a lot. However, she also claims that she believes to have done nothing wrong throughout the whole ordeal, and has acted in a way that allowed her to remain “pure.” The way she presented her side of the story made it clear that she felt a lot of pride for having the strength to take the plunge.
The TODAY show has undoubtedly been in a bad spot lately, with Mr. Lauer being let go in light of the recent accusations of sexual misconduct against him. Thankfully though, the way Curry spoke about the production did not really shed any bad light on things behind the scenes, as the show does not really need any more negative publicity right now.
Curry maintained a position of humbleness throughout the entire discussion, and it looks like this is the way she has been trying to handle herself in general ever since leaving her job on the NBC morning program. In fact, this appears to be a major driving force behind her professional development as a whole.
However, during her appearance on CBS’s This Morning, her first interview since leaving the Peacock Network in 2015, she made it known that Lauer’s ouster and the allegations that surfaced against him did not surprise her. In her exchange with journalist Gayle King, she talked about a “climate of verbal harassment” that was difficult for women.
Despite being asked, Curry refused to go deeper.
