The reality TV star Kim Kardashian met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the Oval Office to discuss possible changes in laws regarding prisons.
The meeting lasted an hour, and Kanye West‘s wife used the opportunity to plead for the release of one particular prisoner, Alice Johnson.
Johnson is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole, even though this was her first offense. The 63-year-old great grandmother was imprisoned in 1996 for drug trafficking and money laundering.
Tretessa Johnson‘s mother tried to plead for clemency to former President Barack Obama on three different occasions, but she got rejected in every case.
Apparently, upon hearing about her case, the stunning business mogul and mother of three was so touched that she decided to take the matter into her own hands.
The TV personality has even hired renowned attorney Shawn Holley to take up Johnson’s case.
Kardashian has also been discussing the matter with Jared Kushner for some months, who, besides being the president’s adviser and son-in-law, is currently involved in the push around The Prison Reform and Redemption Act, designed to improve the integration of freed prisoners back in society.
The reality star confirmed the meeting with the New York real estate tycoon in a Twitter message, right before starting her trip to the White House.
Following the meeting with the 45th U.S. president, Kim was spotted visiting Ivanka Trump and Kushner’s DC home.
Even though it remains unclear whether or not the president will allow the clemency for Johnson, he still expressed his joy about the meeting on Twitter by posting a photo of him and Kim in the Oval Office.
The image has sparked a lot of, and some people have said that they will no longer support Kim’s businesses after the coveted meeting with the Republican politician.
