Jeanine Pepler Has Committed Suicide — Famed Publicist Died At 50

The wave of celebrities taking their lives away is not over, as publicist Jeanine Pepler was found dead at the age of 50 in her home in Sag Harbor, Li.

Pepler followed the “example” set by Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, who also committed suicide earlier in June, by hanging herself on Sunday evening.

According to close friends of the deceased, it was Pepler’s romantic partner, artist Steve Miller, who found her body.

An insider reached out to Page Six and stated, “He is just devastated, as are we all. She seemed to be doing great. They had a lot of plans for the future.”

The devastated Miller has not commented on the situation yet. Pepler is mostly known for her work with novelists Jay McInerney and Candace Bushnell.

The publicist spent most of her childhood and youth in Cape Town, South Africa. She transferred to New York in 1996 and collaborated with clients such as Tina Brown, Michael Eisner, Julian Schnabel, and Julie Taymor in the fields of public relations.

Over the course of the last few years, the publicist managed to establish herself in Sag Harbor, where she set up the boutique agency AKA Life.

In her biography, posted on the website of the boutique agency, Pepler described herself as a golf enthusiast, lover of white Burgundy and Betty’s Greek wraps, as well as her fondness for taking morning walks with her French bulldog, Violet.

In the past, Pepler was also romantically involved with McInerney, and their relationship lasted for six years before splitting up in 2005. After the breakup, the publicist moved to the apartment of Bret Easton Ellis for a while.

Pepler and McInerney separated on good terms and established a good friendship after the novelist tied the knot with Anne Hearst.

Supporters have taken to social media to pay tribute to the famed publicist.
