Nipsey Hussle would have turned 34 just a few days ago, but he was tragically slain by a gunman instead.
And while many are still mourning over the loss of their favorite entertainer, some have taken the opportunity to celebrate his life instead, and have been paying their tributes to him.
His recent birthday was an important milestone in this regard, as support for the rapper and those around him grew stronger than ever.
Beyonce joined in remembering the famous hip-hop artist as well, sharing a special portrait of him on social media, with a deep quote regarding the whole situation written right beneath it.
She referenced “the marathon” in her words, and noted that “true kings don’t die.”
Many have been supportive of Jay-Z‘s wife in her special commemoration of the deceased rapper, and have pointed out that her move was very touching and done in great taste.
Beyonce also added that she was praying “with every ounce of her heart” for the rapper’s family, commenting on a photo of the late California artist from when he was younger.
Despite her good intentions, the mother of three still got blasted by some for her tribute.
One person defended her by saying: “I’m confused as to why people have a problem with this woman showing her respects… chill tf out. Shout out to Bey for staying humble and recognizing the grind. I mean SHE IS FROM 3RD WARD, HOUSTON TEXAS. Google it 🤨🤦🏽♀️.”
Another follower continued with: “You truly are the queen. All you do is be noble and feed us nothing but positivity. I’m inspired.”
A third supporter opted to expand the conversation to Beyonce’s husband’s deal with the NFL: “I LOVE THE THOUGHTFULNESS OF THIS POST!💯 However, I wish a little more thought was put into Jay Z working with the NFL. I love what both of you are to and for us, but I can’t help but think what would Nipsey think about the decision that Jay Z made. May God bless us all!💯”
And while some expected the birthday of the late Nipsey to be marred by some distasteful acts — such as the potential vandalizing of the Marathon Store — nothing of that sort happened.
Instead, people did show up to pay their respects to the rapper, but nobody was trying to cause any trouble, and it was clear that the whole event was done with good intentions.
The Marathon Store itself will remain off-limits for the time being while a special tower is being erected in memory of Nipsey.
