Bryan Singer Fired As Director Of Freddie Mercury Biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Starring Rami Malek

Bryan Singer, who is known for his work on the X-Men franchise, is from now on officially fired from his position as director of the upcoming film, Bohemian Rhapsody, about the life of the legendary Freddie Mercury, the late lead vocalist for British band Queen.

The new development was announced on December 4th by a representative of the 20th Century Fox Studio.

Apparently, Singer’s unexpected absence on set caused the entire production of the film to stop with only less than three weeks of shooting time remaining.

Consequently, cameraman Thomas Newton had to step up and do Singer’s job as director during his absence.

The production of the movie already had its problems with the original star, Sacha Baron, quitting due to disagreements with Queen band members, but those are not the only setbacks the development of Bohemian Rhapsody had to face.

Supposedly, Singer’s unprofessionalism and frequent cases of not showing up to work led to disputes with the lead actor Rami Malek, the fantastic star of USA TV series Mr. Robot, although Singer slammed these statements not to be true.

It did not take much time for the media to get a response from the controversial father of one. From his point of view, the reason for his absence is a family health emergency.

Singer also claimed that the studio refused to let him take care of “a gravely ill parent” as well as his own health.

He stated: “I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen, but Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.”

The premiere for the film is set for Christmas Day 2018, and according to some experts, it could do well during awards season.
