SAG Awards Pick ‘The Good Place’ Actress Kristen Bell As First Time Host

For the first time ever, the Screen Actors Guild Awards are going to have a host, and this will be no other than the Michigan native Kristen Bell.

The actress, mostly known for her roles in titles such as Veronica Mars, Bad Moms, and the voice of Princess Anna in the Disney animated film, Frozen, has just been announced as the host for the 24th annual awards show.

A long-standing custom is being broken by assigning a host for the event, but executive producer Kathy Connell and the SAG awards committee are being positive about their decision.

They explained that they are excited to enter a new era of their work, one where they are going against stereotypes and established precedents, and they want to get rid of any traditions that have been dragging down their potential.

The 24th annual SAG Awards nominations are to be announced on December 13, and the actual show will air live at 8 pm on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

Charming as always, Bell delivered the news with a pretty funny video on Twitter.

She pretended to be confused about the nature of her job as a host and made a humorous remark to Anne Hathaway and James Franco.

She captioned the same clip on Instagram: “Thought it would be cute to start off 2018 with a stomach ulcer. I’ll be hosting the 24th annual screen actors guild awards Sunday Jan 21! And YES in the video I say Jan 22. First mistake of many to come. 🙂 ”

While watching the little skit, it was evident that her excitement was sincere and she seemed full of energy during the announcement.

This will be Bell’s first appearance as solo awards show host. She also co-hosted the 2014 Independence Spirit Awards with Fred Armisen and took part as “host” on Jimmy Kimmel‘s late-night program.
