Great news for fans of Big Little Lies — the show has officially been green-lighted for a second season, and we will soon get seven new episodes.
Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are both coming back to their respective roles, but Shailene Woodley has not been confirmed yet, which has worried some followers of the show.
Witherspoon shared in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be bringing back this talented team of artists.”
She went on to add: “I’m beyond excited to be working with talented and acclaimed director Andrea Arnold who will be at the helm.”
It is worth noting that the producers claim that they expect most of the original cast members to come back though, so that is a good indicator of what the second season will be like.
We do not know much about the new season so far, and it is likely that the bosses behind the series are going to keep details under wraps until they are close to the premiere date.
The first season drew a lot of positive attention to the HBO series, and it was praised by many critics and fans alike, with many expressing hopes that its huge potential will be realized further with even more seasons.
As can be expected, fans have been wasting no time in trying to come up with interesting theories for the plot of season 2, and we would not be surprised if the showrunners are keeping an eye on those discussions as well.
Those, who want to get a hint about what the new season could be like, should check out the novel that inspired the whole show in the first place – named the same as the series – although some might also want to prevent spoiling the story for themselves, which would also be understandable given the excellent pacing of the show.
