As tensions are rising around the issue of sexual misconduct allegations, another celebrity just got hit by a similar claim.
After winning a Golden Globe Sunday night, actor and director James Franco came under fire for his own admission that he was trying to solicit sex from a 17-year-old girl several years ago.
The negativity initially came from actress Ally Sheedy but was quickly followed by supportive messages from other celebrities who stood behind her in her disappointment.
Sheedy insinuated that Franco should not have even been allowed at the event after what he admitted to, and she claimed that developments like this one are the exact reason why she left the show business in the first place.
However, the messages did not stay up long, as Sheedy eventually came back and deleted them. Not before they were able to generate a lot of controversy though, so it looks like she managed to get her point across one way or another.
Franco’s name has been getting mentioned quite often on Twitter ever since that incident, but few people are talking about his Golden Globe win. A majority of the comments are focused on Sheedy’s outburst, and most are supportive of the actress, although there have also been some tweets in defense of Franco himself.
As for Franco, his own statements on the situation implied that he was conflicted about moving forward and a few commenters found he did not express enough shame for some of the things he had allegedly done, although it is possible that it was a matter of misunderstanding.
Franco has been trying to maintain a low profile around the incident in general. A few appearances on late night televisions did not do much to help the movie star’s case because more women have come forward after the whole drama on Sunday.
