Matt Lauer’s ‘TODAY’ Show Firing Was ‘Very Painful’ For Katie Couric

Katie Couric has decided to finally speak up about what happened with Matt Lauer, who was fired from the TODAY show about a month ago over allegations of sexual misconduct.

Couric claimed that the situation has been a “very painful” for her, and she has been deeply disturbed by the various reports that she has read so far.

And in the end, she also claimed to have been unaware of what was going on at the time. The two TV personalities worked together on the morning program for close to fifteen years.

Lauer himself has issued an apologetic statement, in which he claimed to be genuinely remorseful for what he had done and the pain he has caused others, but it does not seem like this has gone over too well with the crowds.

Indeed, his career seems to be pretty much over at this point, as not many people want to associate themselves with him. This apparently extends outside of his professional circles too, as the situation has deeply impacted his personal life as well.

Whether Lauer is going to eventually recover from this or not is hard to tell, but many celebrities have seen their careers killed off for far less in the past. And in the current climate, it can indeed be very difficult to swipe issues like this one under the rug.

There is a lot of attention focused on the issue of sexual misconduct in the world of celebrities right now, and the revelations about Lauer came at a pretty unfortunate time for him. On the other hand, it is good to see that he is at least getting what he deserves, according to many.

Couric said the whole experience was painful to her because this is not the man she had known for a very long time.
