When it was announced that pop music superstar Justin Timberlake is going to perform for the second time on the Super Bowl halftime show this year, the hashtag #JusticeForJanet started to gain popularity.
What was the reason for this? The last time Justin was on the Super Bowl stage, he mistakenly exposed Janet Jackson’s breast in front of millions of viewers.
Although the incident was mostly Justin’s fault, it was Janet who took the blame and had to face a fine and being blacklisted from MTV and U.S. radio stations.
Justin has yet to publicly apologize to Janet for the unpleasant experience that led to the rapid decline of her career. Just recently, in an interview for Beats 1 Radio, the pop idol discussed the incident with Zane Lowe, saying that he finally reached peaceful terms with Janet.
The chit-chat started with Justin joking that he will try to avoid such mistakes on the biggest scene in the country this time. Lowe, of course, referred to the 2004 performance, asking how it felt to perform in front of so many people and make such a mistake.
Justin explained that it was tough, and he had to stumble through the rest, but as he could not change what had happened, it was time for him to move forward and learn from the past.
He also mentioned that he and Janet had time to resolve the situation afterward and make amend of the whole thing.
However, despite the fact that the “Cry Me a River” singer acknowledged his mistake, there were still harsh reactions from fans when news about his appearance on this year’s Super Bowl broke out. Many demanded Janet to also get some stage time alongside him.
According to rumors, some reconciliation might happen on stage although most commenters do not believe this will happen.
