XXXTentacion Public Memorial Set For Wednesday — Officials Hope Things Will Go Smoothly Unlike Some Of The Spontaneous Tributes

Police officials had to take some serious measures to keep a huge crowd of fans and followers under control, as they gathered in the central part of Los Angeles to pay their tribute to murdered rapper XXXTenacion.

Hundreds of people got together over the grounds of Melrose Avenue in the evening to pay their last respect to the dead hip-hop star.

Many of the saddened fans brought candles or lit the displays of their phones in honor of the deceased.

However, soon the crowd got so large that there was not enough free space to hold all fans of the rapper, and many of the mourners found their way to the roofs of the buildings or caused various trouble for ongoing traffic of vehicles in the area.

According to local journalists, at one point, the mourners started bombarding members of the police force standing nearby with rocks.

As a result, officers were forced to use tear gas, pepper-spray balls and rubber bullets to keep the situation under control.

Eventually, it turned out the memorial was not officially permitted. A representative for the Los Angeles Police Department also issued a statement saying that police officers were trying to escort the mourners safely out of the area and restore peace on the streets.

The tribute to the 20-year-old Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, more famous under his pseudonym XXXTenacion, was organized after the rapper was shot to death on Monday.

The assault happened while the hip-hop star was leaving the parking lot of a motorcycle dealership in Florida.

Chaotic scenes during XXXTentacion tributes occurred around the country, but most of them remained peaceful.

An open-casket public memorial is set for Wednesday, June 27 and many supporters are expected at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.

Cell phones and cameras will not be allowed as fans say a final goodbye to the talented and controversial slain rapper.
